At St Andrews, we take pride in offering a diverse and comprehensive netball program that encompasses both indoor and outdoor opportunities.
Our program is designed to foster skill development, team spirit, and a love for the sport. In 2022, our Open Netball team demonstrated their excellence by becoming division champions at the prestigious Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball competition (QISSN).
Junior School Netball
Netball Development Program
Specifically for students in Years 4 to 6, St Andrews offers a Netball Development Program. This program provides a solid foundation for their future netball journey and is designed to introduce and develop fundamental netball skills in a fun and engaging environment. The Netball Development Program aims to instill a love for the sport, foster teamwork, and build self-confidence in our young athletes. Through age-appropriate training sessions, friendly matches, and skill-building activities, students will have the opportunity to grow their abilities and unlock their full potential on the netball court.
Primary Schools Cup
Selected Year 4 to 6 students have the opportunity to represent St Andrews in the Primary Schools Cup. This event allows our students to showcase their netball talents and proudly represent the College. The Primary Schools Cup provides a positive and supportive environment, encouraging our young athletes to grow in their skills and enthusiasm for the sport.
Secondary School Netball
Vicki Wilson Cup
As part of our commitment to providing diverse representative netball opportunities, we are delighted to offer our selected secondary students the unique chance to participate in the prestigious Vicki Wilson Cup. This competition is specially designed for talented netball players in secondary education. Representing St Andrews in the Vicki Wilson Cup provides our students with an exceptional platform to compete against other schools.
Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN)
Selected Secondary students have the chance to compete at a high level and represent St Andrews on the netball court at one of the most prestigious netball events, the QISSN Championships. This is an opportunity for talented players to showcase their skills and strive for success competing across five-days during the mid-year term break.
Netball Subject-Based Electives
In Year 7 and Year 9, students at St Andrews have the option to select Netball as a subject-based elective. These specialised classes provide a focused learning environment where students can refine their technical skills, tactical knowledge, and teamwork under the guidance of experienced coaches. By integrating Netball into their timetables, students have the opportunity to deepen their passion and excel in the sport.
Weekly Training and Sport Allocated Time
We are committed to the development of our netball players and provide weekly training sessions to enhance their skills, game understanding, and teamwork. Our students also benefit from dedicated sport allocated time, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and ample opportunities to excel on the court.
Whether it's representing our school in renowned competitions, honing skills through specialised electives, or participating in regular training sessions, our comprehensive netball program equips students with the skills and experiences necessary for success both on and off the court.
